The book is about a boy named Bobby who gets a dog for his birthday.  Once, Lucy the dog ripped up the dad's papers.  Another time, Lucy goes to obedience school.  In obedience school, Bobby meets another kid named Candy.  Candy's mother takes Bobby and Candy out for ice cream.  Candy is now Bobby's friend.  After obedience school, Lucy is a good dog.  At the very end, Bobby's friend leaves, but he meets a new one.

My puppy is like Lucy too.  Dante is like Lucy because he sometimes rips up paper and stuff.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 7 is about Greg and the Valentine's Day dance.

At the Valentine's Dance, Greg wants to go out on a date with a girl, but his friend Rowly wants to go too, so Greg says yes.  The place that they wanted to go was too expensive, so they went to the restaurant across the street.  At the restaurant, Rowly's scarf got cut off and they have horrible food that is also expensive.  For dessert, they got something barely ate.  At the Valentine's dance, the old people ruined everything.

The Littles & the Lost Children by John Peterson

The Littles and the Lost Children is about a tiny family of people with tails.

One day, the Littles were going to go to Trash City.  When they got to Trash City, they set up their tent.  The babies fell asleep.  The family went out and left a big black bird guarding the babies.  Then, mice started to come and the big black bird tried to scare them away.  Next, a cat came and scared away all the mice, and the cat and the bird got in a big fight.  Soon, guards came and threw firecrackers at the big black bird.  Then the guards took the babies through a pipe, down to Trash City.  They had a celebration with the babies.

For the next 7 years, the babies wondered where they came from.  Then one of the 9 year olds started dreaming of their parents and the big black bird.  Then, they asked people for help to get back to their parents.  In the end, they found their family.

The One in the Middle is the Green Kangaroo by Judy Blume

The One in the Middle is the Green Kangaroo is about a kid named Freddie.

Freddie has an older brother named Mike and a little sister named Ellen.  Freddie feels like he is the peanut butter part in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  He feels that way because he is in second grade, his little sister one year old and his big brother is ten.

Freddie finds out that there is going to be a school play, but when he asks his teacher if he can be in the play, she says that it is for fifth and sixth graders only.  She says she will talk to the director to see if he can be in the play.  When Freddie goes to the auditions, the teacher asks him to go up on stage and yell something.  Then she asks him if he can jump.  Then he gets to be the green kangaroo!

The fifth and sixth graders made his costume.  The day of the play, Freddie went up on stage and acted out his part.  Last, the teacher said that without Freddie, there would be no play.

The Hallelujah Flight by Phil Bildner

Last year, I read The Hallelujah Flight.  It is a non-fiction story, about James Banning.  He was the first African American to fly across America.

After I learned about him, I made a poster for school.  It showed information about James Banning.  We drew the map of where he flew.

After my mom shared my picture on Twitter, I got an email from the author.  The email said:
Hey Ben...
I saw your social studies project. That was great! I'm so glad you liked my book.  I had a blast writing it.  I learned a lot too.
Keep on reading and enjoying good books!
Peace, always,
It was really cool getting an email from the author.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

Diary of a Wimpy Kid is about a kid named Greg who is in middle school.

Greg is having a really hard time in middle school.  At lunch, there was no room to sit at a table, and he's stuck in the middle of a bunch of morons!  He has a friend named Rowley, but sometimes, he embarrasses Greg.

On the basketball court, there is an old gunky piece of cheese.  If you touch the cheese, you have the cheese touch.  If you have the cheese touch, the only way you can get rid of it is to pass it on to someone else.  If you don't want to get the cheese touch, you have to cross your fingers.  It's kind of funny.

Greg has a big brother that is always beating him up.  Also, he has a little brother who never gets in trouble.  Greg always gets in trouble instead.

All About Me

Hello!  I am Ben.  I am 7 years old, I am in 2nd grade, and I like to read books.

Me at a Halloween carnival for Daddy's unit

My favorite series are:
  • Flat Stanley
  • Magic Tree House
  • Captain Underpants
  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid
My favorite book I have ever read is Invisible Stanley by Jeff Brown.

I can't wait to finish the Flat Stanley series!

My goal this year, in AR, is 100 or more points.  Since we started AR at the end of September, I have 50.2 points (as of 11/8 ~Mom).  I've read all the Wimpy Kid books this year.

Besides reading, I like to play outside.  When it is wintertime, I like to ski up at Keystone.  I like skiing because when you put on your skis and you go down the hill, it feels like you are about to blast off in a rocket ship.
